paper bead bracelet
Use your imagination and get crafty with paper. Just add some paint, marker and glue and the sky’s the limit!
Step 1 |
Paint a sheet of white construction paper as desired. Let dry. TIP: The goal is to make your own colourful paper. |
Step 2 |
Click here to download and print the template. Cut out the patterns and trace them onto your painted paper. TIP: You can also use the ruler and measure out the strips directly on the paper. If you do this, start at the one end on the bottom and measure in 1" [2.5 cm]. Make a mark, then make a mark every 1" [2.5 cm]. On the top of the paper, measure in ½" [1.2 cm] and then measure every 1" [2.5 cm]. Draw a line from the bottom left mark to the top mark, then from the top mark to the next bottom mark. This will make long triangles. |
Step 3 |
Cut out the triangle strips. |
Step 4 |
Lay one strip down on your working surface, with the back side facing up, and coat the back with a glue stick. |
Step 5 |
Now, pick up the strip, and starting from the wide end, roll it around a thin wood dowel. Slide the bead off the dowel. Repeat for each bead you want to make for your bracelet. TIP: You can brush a bit of white glue over the end to ensure that is stays sealed. |
Step 6 |
Cut a piece of stretch cord that is about 12" [30.4 cm] long. Thread the beads onto the cord, alternating the paper beads with pony beads, until you have a length that will fit your wrist. |
Step 7 |
Tie a knot and trim the excess cord. You can add a drop of glue to the knot to help keep it secure. Share your project photos with #MakeItWithMichaels |
