out of this world light-up card
Step 1 |
Cut a piece of dark blue cardstock 10" x 7" [25.4 cm x 17.8 cm], then score and fold it in half to 5" x 7" [12.7 cm x 17.8 cm]. |
Step 2 |
Cut a piece of white cardstock 4 ½" x 6 ½" [11.4 cm x 16.5 cm], then cut out a 3" x 3" [7.6 cm x 7.6 cm] square from this piece where you want your "outer space" to go. |
Step 3 |
Cut a strip of the Navy Blue Sky scrapbook paper to go across the top and the bottom of the card and adhere in place. |
Step 4 |
On a piece of white cardstock, stamp the planet stamps you wish to use using black ink. Tint the images in with alcohol markers, then cut out with detail scissors. Set aside. |
Step 5 |
Follow the instructions in the light kit to create stars for your outer space. You will need to place the contact (the part that turns the lights on) behind where the moon cut out is on the card, which will be what you will press to turn on your lights. |
Step 6 |
Now, poke a hole in the cardstock where the lights are so that they will shine through from behind. |
Step 7 |
Add more stars to the sky by making dots and starbursts using the white pen. |
Step 8 |
Attach all of your stamped images to the card front using foam squares. |
Step 9 |
On the inside of the card front, add foam tape all the way around the edge of the card, then attach a piece of cardstock to cover the light mechanism. |
