orange seed bead-wrapped earrings

These Orange Seed Bead-Wrapped Earrings are an easy-intermediate segue into seed bead crafting. The mix of orange and neutral beads included in this bead strand used to make these earrings are both fun and cheery!
Step 1

Measure and cut a 10" length of 16-gauge wire.

Step 2

Make a simple loop on one end. To do this, bend the wire at a 90° about ½" from the end. Grasp the end of the wire between the jaws of a pair of round nose pliers. Rotate the pliers toward you, keeping a firm grip on the wire until a small loop is formed.

Step 3

Next, find the center of the wire and wrap it around a small cylinder object, such as a craft paint bottle to from the circular shape of the earring.

Step 4

Wrap the opposite end of the wire around the wire just below the loop formed in Step 2. Trim excess wire.

Step 5

Now, cut 12" of 24-gauge wire.

Step 6

At the bottom curve of the circular earring, wrap one end of your wire about three times. Slide on a bead from the orange seed bead mix, then wrap the wire around the ear wire about three more times (on the other side of the bead).
TIP: Be sure to wrap the wire close to the beads, and the rounds of the wraps as close to each other as possible.

Step 7

Slide small seed beads onto the wire, enough to wrap around the top of the bead from Step 6. Drape the beaded wire over the first bead, in a rainbow manner, and wrap the wire around the ear wire on the other side.

Step 8

Repeat Step 7 with a different bead style from the mix and drape them over the last row of beads.

Step 9

Wrap the wire around the ear wire about three times and then cut the wire as close to the wire as possible. Use your chain no pliers to smooth the wire flush against the ear wire.

Step 10

Repeat Steps 5-9 in two more areas on the inside of the ear wire as shown.

Step 11

Carefully open the loop at the bottom of a fishhook, slide it onto the loop at the top of the ear wire and close the loop on the fishhook.

Step 12
Repeat Steps 1-11 for a second earring.
