These are very cheap for a reason, they don't blend or layer at all which is a huge part of oil pastel paintings. I tried using linseed oil with them but they still sucked, I returned them and bought name brand pastels, much happier, you get what you pay for with art supplies.

Pastel Oils Make Your Artwork SING!!!
I recently purchased pastel oils as part of my drawing medium. The bold colors in my landscape drawings come alive through easy manipulation of the crayon, creating a simple outline. Placing colors next to each other in a variety of combinations renders an amazing effect. Enjoy.

Okay for Practice.

My new experience with oil pastels
My art class at the Santa Rosa JC encouraged me to try something new. I bought oil pastels to try for the first time. Usually I would use
acrylics or colored pencils. I like the brightness I can get with the oil pastels and also the layering and blending that works beautifully. I’m often surprised how it looks. I’m glad I experimented. Now I’m hooked.

The only pastels I buy!
My son uses these pastels on canvases. He loves them. They come in an array of colors and look amazing. We seal his work and hang them throughout our house. We purchased much more expensive oil pastels for him and he doesn’t like the way they blend. These pastels blend beautifully and last for a long time. These will be the only pastels we will be buying for him. I would give these a 10 in my book and would highly recommend to any type of artist, beginner or professional.
