mother's day "this much" card
Step 1 |
Fold a piece of cardstock in half to make a card that is 5½" high and 8½” wide. |
Step 2 |
Cut an 8” piece of grosgrain ribbon for the arms. Rub your glue stick onto the center of the ribbon length and stick the ribbon onto the front of the card so that its ends are an equal distance from the card’s sides. The top of the grosgrain should be about 2” above the bottom edge of the card. |
Step 3 |
Select another piece of cardstock that matches the color of your grosgrain ribbon and cut out a shape for the body. You can make your body any shape you like, but make sure it’s tall enough to reach from the bottom of the card to just above the top edge of the grosgrain ribbon. Keep the bottom of your shape flat, so that it does not stick out past the bottom of the card. |
Step 4 |
Add details to the body with markers. Rub the glue stick onto the back of the body and then place it onto the card. Make sure it covers the center point where the ribbon is attached. Use the image as a guide. |
Step 5 |
Use another piece of cardstock to cut out the head and two small hands. Use the glue stick to adhere the head onto the card just above the body and to glue the hands onto the back side of the ribbon, so that they stick out from each end. |
Step 6 |
With marker, write “Mama, I love you thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis much!!” across the top of the card. |
Step 7 |
Remove the paper backing from two wiggle eyes and place them onto the head. Draw a nose and mouth with markers. |
Step 8 |
Use liquid glue to attach 3 pom poms at the neckline so that they cover the join between the head and body. |
Step 9 |
Cut short pieces of yarn and glue them around the head for hair. |
Step 10 |
If you like, add more decorations, like hearts, with markers. Do not forget to write a special message to Mom on the inside and sign your name. Share your project photos with #MakeItWithMichaels |
