monogrammed jewelry gift box
Step 1 |
First, use a screwdriver to remove the hardware on your wood box. Set aside. |
Step 2 |
Paint the hardware with Rose Gold Ultra Bright metallic paint. Set aside to let dry. |
Step 3 |
Pour some black paint onto your paper plate (or palette paper) and water it down. Brush the watered-down paint onto your wood box and wipe off any excess with a paper towel. Set aside to dry. |
Step 4 |
Click here for the design and let your Cricut® cut the shapes. |
Step 5 |
Design a monogram (or a fabulous quote) and cut it out of the Copper (or Rose Gold) textured vinyl. Use your weeder tool to remove vinyl around and within your monogram (or quote), then set aside. |
Step 6 |
Coat the top of your stained wood box with Mod Podge® as well as the back of the large square paper piece. Place the paper on top of your wood box, centered, and smooth out any bubbles. Let dry. |
Step 7 |
Repeat Step 6 for the side pieces. Be sure to make the holes to replace the hardware. |
Step 8 |
Add a coat of Mod Podge® over the top of you paper on the top and sides to seal. Let dry. |
Step 9 |
Cut a piece of transfer tape to fit over your vinyl design. Peel off the backer paper, place it over your design, sticky-side down, and rub over the top to burnish. Peel the backer paper from your vinyl design so your vinyl is stuck to the transfer tape. |
Step 10 |
Now, place the transfer tape onto your box where desired and burnish. Peel the transfer tape, successfully transferring your design to your box. |
Step 11 |
Replace hardware. |
Step 12 |
For the inside, hot glue a layer of fiber-fil to one side of your chipboard square. |
Step 13 |
Cut a piece of burlap scrapbook paper that is about 2" larger in height and width of your chipboard square. This will give you a 1" border around the entire square. |
Step 14 |
Place your chipboard square in the center of your burlap square with the fiber-fil side facing down. |
Step 15 |
Cut a diagonal slit from each corner of the burlap square to the corner of the chipboard square. |
Step 16 |
Fold the 1" burlap border over to the back and hot glue in place. Be sure to pull it so the fabric is even and taut on the front. Trim the excess burlap in the corners so it isn’t seen from the front. |
Step 17 |
Set the burlap covered square inside the box so the burlap is showing when the box is open. Share your project photos with #MakeItWithMichaels |
