monogram shadow box

Make this beautiful and trendy Monogram Shadow Box with your Cricut® machine, vinyl and scrapbook paper. It is the perfect gift for newlyweds, an anniversary or for any occasion!
Step 1

Remove the back of the shadow box and use the tape runner to secure the sheet of scrapbook paper to the back.

Step 2

Reassemble the shadow box.

Step 3

Now, create a design with a large, bold initial and a script name running through the letter in Cricut® Design Space™. Once you like your design, slice out the name from the initial and weld the script name.

Step 4

Click ‘Make It’ in the upper right corner. Click ‘Continue’ in the lower right corner of your screen.

Step 5

Place your vinyl, grid-side down, onto your cutting mat and load it into your Cricut® machine. Select ‘Vinyl’ as your material and follow the prompts to cut out your design. Once the machine has finished cutting, gently peel the vinyl away from your mat.
TIP: Watch the left panel in your preview screen to see which color vinyl to add to your cutting mat.

Step 6

Once both layers of your design have been cut, use scissors cut around your design, removing it from the vinyl sheet. Next, use your weeder tool to peel away the remaining negative space surrounding the initial and name. When you’re done, only the design itself should be left on the backer paper.

Step 7

Cut a piece of transfer tape that’s just a bit larger than the design. Peel away the tape’s backer paper and place the tape, sticky-side down, over your design. Burnish the vinyl so that it’s completely stuck to the tape.
TIP: Attach the initial first, then attach the name.

Step 8

Now, gently peel the white backer paper from the cut-out design, which now should be stuck to the transfer tape.

Step 9
Hold the transfer tape with the design over the glass, centered; then press it onto the surface. Burnish the vinyl once more to make sure it’s completely stuck to the surface and gently peel away the transfer tape, leaving the vinyl transferred to your surface.
TIP: Use the sliced-out sections to line up the name properly.
