mixed metal fringe seed bead earrings
Step 1 |
Determine your pattern or use the project image as a guide. |
Step 2 |
Thread about 96" [243.8 cm] of thread onto the beading needle. |
Step 3 |
Build the first row of beads, with a brick stitch, across the bottom of your metal circle. Add Silver seed bead to your thread, then thread your needle through the first hole to the left of your metal circle. Now, thread your needle back through the top of your seed bead. Pull your thread while holding the bead against the bottom edge of your metal circle until you have about a 4" [10.2 cm] tail on the outside end of your thread. |
Step 4 |
Add a Silver seed bead to your needle, run the needle through the first hole again, then back through the top of your seed bead. Pull your thread until the bead is tight against the bottom edge of your metal circle and next to your first bead. |
Step 5 |
Repeat Step 4 to add the remaining 16 Silver beads across the bottom of your metal circle. You will work two beads per hole for a total of 18 Silver Seed Beads across the bottom of the metal circle. |
Step 6 |
Turn your work around so you again are working left to right. |
Step 7 |
String all the beads for the first strand of fringe onto the thread. Now, loop around the last bead, then run your needle and thread back up through the beads. |
Step 8 |
Hold the bottom bead in the fringe strand, pull the working thread up gently until there is no slack in your fringe strand. |
Step 9 |
Run your needle, from back to front, through the “bridge” of thread at the bottom between the top two beads. |
Step 10 |
Repeat Steps 7-9 until you have a strand of fringe hanging between every two beads of the base brick stitch. |
Step 11 |
To finish the fringe, weave your working thread up and down through each bead across the base brick stitch and back. Cut the tail as close as you can to the last bead. |
Step 12 |
Thread your tail and work through several of the beads in your base brick stitch, then cut the tail as close as you can to the last bead. |
Step 13 |
Carefully open the loop at the bottom of a fishhook earring, thread the fishhook wire through the hole at the top of your metal circle and squeeze the loop together to close. |
Step 14 |
Repeat Steps 1-14 for a second earring. |
