INSTRUCTIONS: Ears (Make 2) Note: Ears are knit flat in rows on 2 dpns. CO 11 sts. Rows 1-18: *K1, p1; rep from * to last st, k1. Row 19: (K1, p1) twice, s2kp, (p1, k1) twice. Row 20: *K1, p1; rep from * to last st, k1. Row 21: K1, p1, k1, s2kp, k1, p1, k1. Row 22: K1, p1, k3, p1, k1. Row 23: K1, p1, s2kp, p1, k1. Row 24: *K1, p1; rep from * to last st, k1. Row 25: K1, s2kp, k1. Cut yarn, thread through remaining sts, and pull to fasten off. |

Hat Cast on 40 (46, 50, 54) sts. Place marker and join to work in the rnd, being careful not to twist sts. Rnds 1, 3, 5: Purl. Rnds 2, 4, 6: Knit. Knit every rnd until hat measures 4½" (5", 5½", 6½") [11.5 cm (13 cm, 14 cm, 16.5 cm)]. Dec Rnd: K2tog around – 20 (23, 25, 27) sts. Knit 2 rnds. Dec Rnd: K2tog around to last 0 (1, 1, 1) st, knit last stitch if necessary – 10 (12, 13, 14) sts. Cut yarn, thread through remaining sts, and pull to fasten off. Finishing: Sew on ears, using tail from CO, folding CO edge to sew on hat in a “V” shape. Weave in any remaining ends.
