Step 1 |
Cover your work surface with a disposable covering. |
Step 2 |
Remove any outer paper wrapping and glue from the tin can, as you will be painting directly onto the can. Clean the can thoroughly, inside and out, and let dry prior to painting. |
Step 3 |
Use a foam brush to add clear gesso to prepare the outside of your can. Let dry. |
Step 4 |
Paint the background with Bright Aqua Green soft body paint to the outside of the can with a flat brush. Allow to completely dry. |
Step 5 |
Now, create the polka dots Titanium White soft body paint and a circular foam stippler. Allow to dry completely. |
Step 6 |
Using a foam brush, apply a coat of matte varnish to the outside of the can. Once dry, apply a second coat and allow to dry completely. |
Step 7 |
Once the can is completely dry, turn the can over and drill thee holes in a triangular shape in the bottom of the can for drainage. |
Step 8 |
Next, drill one hole on the top left and right sides of the can. |
Step 9 |
Cut a piece of twine at the desired hanging length. Thread the twine through the holes at the top of can by looping each end from the outside of the can, to the inside. Tie the ends into a knot or bow. |
Step 10 |
Finally, add a layer of small stones at the bottom for drainage, then add dirt and a flower. |
