Great product to use instead of Plaster of Paris

Must in prepping your paint surfaces
A must have IMO especially if you paint on watercolor paper with acrylic paints. Without using gesso before I started to paint on the paper it was so frustrating to spread paint evenly don't know the science behind why it helps just know I'm not frustrated anymore.

A Dependable Gesso
I don’t mean to condemn this with faint praise. It is a very serviceable gesso that will prep many surfaces to take media. It’s not for all surfaces, but it has worked on fabric, wood, heavyweight paper, and of course canvas for me. It leaves a slightly textured, matte surface that can lift and effect your paints if you’re too aggressive with washes. Multiple coats and longer drying times may help. Otherwise, it does what it says on the bottle.
