Rated 3 out of 5 by from I Dont Care For Them Paint, any brand, has levels of opacity all the way down to virtually translucent, however, Liquitex Basic seems that most colors border on too see-through. Cons: Primary colors are not pure, mixing results in muddy colors or some odd color never before seen in the history of art. This paint in my experience is: much too sheer, too glossy with a high plastic look when dried. This may be okay for some but not for my work. Pros: Always well-mixed, never any binder separation, Ochre and all the Blacks are opaque and fairly nice, but again, high gloss, a lot of product for the price. Your experience will/may differ.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I heard amazing things about these pints and tried them out and they were super sheer. I had a friend who’s also tried these paints out and she said that they were very opaque so like did the change the formula or something? Or did someone tamper with mine?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from These used to be my go to? I used to use this brand almost exclusively in my painting. I went through a couple of years where I lost most of my paints so when I decided to get back into it, I bought a bunch of Liquitex basics because it hadn't failed me before and I don't know what happened but my paints are suddenly watery and hard to work with. I'm used to rich thick layers and now it's kind of like I'm working with watercolors, which are not my forte and my painting didn't turn out so well as I struggled to layer to overcome this huge opacity problem. I'm a little disappointed, what's going on Liquitex?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for paint pouring I use several brands for paint pouring, I love to mix them and get another color, custom color. Each brand has a little difference in their colors, like turquoise. Supposedly Basics is a step up from Artist's Loft, but I seriously cannot tell if one is better or if they just offer more colors. Add a medium and get the consistency you want.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Colors are Brighter than Paint Appears in Tube Mixed this acrylic paint with water, filled up water balloons, and threw darts at the balloons on a canvas! This paint worked great for that. We spread plastic everywhere, so I don't know how it cleans up if you get it on you. But the colors were brighter than I expected, not as subtle, so they seem a little bit more childish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pigment load for fingerpainting on canvas! I am VERY pleased with the amount of pigment in these tubes! I finger paint (with gloves on) on canvas. I begin with Michaels Step 1 acrylic paint. Areas that "sink in" I paint over with Liquitex BASICS. It is absolutely wonderful! I am currently painting a 30"x40" painting of our driveway in the fall. The paint is a suburb addition to my collection!

I ordered 7 different colors to use for painting from Cad Red to Titanium White. I am going to have some fun with these colors.
