liquid sculpey® southwestern mandala pendant
Step 1 |
Gently stir the bottle of liquid clay. |
Step 2 |
Pour a little of the Gold liquid clay into a plastic cup and add about 4-6 drops of the alcohol ink. Start with less drops and add more if needed. Stir it well with the toothpick. |
Step 3 |
Now, add 3-6 drops of clay softener to create a mixture that is about the consistency of new acrylic paint. The mixture should pour easily. |
Step 4 |
Pour a small amount of the clay mixture into the clean mould. Use the included squeegee to scrap across the top of the entire mould to remove all traces of the clay from the top of the mould. Check to make sure that you have all the mould filled, use a small amount of clay on the toothpick to fill gaps. |
Step 5 |
Bake for 20 minutes at 275° F [135 ºC] in your home or toaster oven. Once it has cooled, just gently peel the piece from the mould. |
Step 6 |
Sheet out about half the package of the conditioned Premo® Accents™ Bronze clay on the second from widest setting on a pasta machine (or use an acrylic roller). Place the baked mandala onto the Bronze sheet of clay and use the acrylic roller to gently roll it into the sheeted clay. Roll from all four sides! |
Step 7 |
Use the 2" [5.1 cm] round cutter and cut out a circle of clay with the mandala. Use the craft blade from the 5 in 1 tool to carefully trim the excess clay away from the edge of the mandala. Smooth the edges of the clay. Set aside. |
Step 8 |
To make the back, roll out another small piece of the Bronze clay. Use the 1" [2.5 cm] circle cutter and cut out a circle of clay. Use a small teardrop cutter to cut out two notches at the top of the circle. |
Step 9 |
Using a small oven-safe metal bowl (or anything with a rounded shape that can be baked in the oven), position the mandala on the top of the curve and use the palm of your hand to gently press it down. Because that mandala is flexible, it will lay right down. Repeat for the easy back. Bake as directed and allow to cool completely. |
Step 10 |
Once the clay is baked and cooled, glue the back to the back of the pendant as shown. Let dry. |
Step 11 |
Measure and cut desired length for you chain, then thread it through the two notches. |
Step 12 |
On one end of the chain add a clasp with a jump ring and on the other end, add a jump ring. |
