Step 1

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: About 35 x 80 in. (89 x 203 cm) at longest and widest

GAUGE: Exact gauge is not essential to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

Yo (yarn over): An increase that also creates a small decorative hole (eyelet) in the fabric, worked as follows:

  • Bring yarn to front, between the needles.
  • Take yarn to back, over the right hand needle. This creates the new st. You are now ready to proceed with the next st as instructed.

NOTES:

  • Shawl is worked in one piece, back and forth in rows, from center back neck downwards.
  • Increases are worked to shape the Shawl.
  • A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of sts. Work back and forth in rows on the circular needle as if working on straight needles.
