FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
GAUGE: 10 sts = about 4" (10 cm) over Rnd 1 of pattern; be sure to check your gauge. NOTES:

Step 2 |
HAT: With circular needle, cast on 44 sts. Join by knitting the first stitch on the left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle and being careful not to twist the stitches. Place a stitch marker for beginning of rnd. At the end of each rnd, slip the marker to begin the next rnd. Rnd 1: *Knit 2, purl 2; repeat from * to end of rnd. Repeat Rnd 1 until piece measures about 10 in. (25.5 cm) from beginning. |

Shape Crown (top of Hat) Rnd 1: *K2, p2tog; repeat from * to end of rnd – you’ll have decreased to 33 sts. As you work Rnd 2, change from the circular needle to double pointed needles by knitting onto one double pointed needle at a time. Don’t forget to move your stitch marker onto the double pointed needles as well! Rnds 2 and 3: *K2, p1; repeat from * to end of rnd. Rnd 4: *K2tog, p1; repeat from * to end of rnd – 22 sts. Rnds 5 and 6: *K1, p1; repeat from * to end of rnd. Rnd 7: *K2tog; repeat from * to end of rnd – 11 sts remain. Cut yarn, leaving a long yarn tail. Thread yarn tail into blunt needle and draw through remaining sts. Pull to close opening at top of Hat and knot. Finishing Weave in yarn ends. |
