Useful remote for Ashland string lights
The LED wire string light remote functions well with the Ashland wire string lights that are remote ready. The only drawback is that it can only be used with remote ready lights and that it is brand specific.

Funky pairing but works great!
Was a little wonky to pair but in the end wound up working great! For those here that are mad it ”didn’t come with lights”…this is ONLY a remote, just as it says on the box. Works with the Ashland brand of string lights but not others as far as I know (I only have the same brand as this product so can’t vouch for others like Apothecary, etc.)

HOW TO OPERATE
I, like many of these comments struggled for about 30 minutes to get this remote to work. It DOES work. I bought string lights that said “remote ready” by Ashland on the box. To get this to work I turned the box from the on, to off, to timer, and back on while holding the “off” button on the remote the entire time. After about 15-30 seconds the lights turned off when the remote was in the “on” position on the BOX.
This was a really frustrating feat, this remote should come with pairing instructions.

Needs the remote ready apothecary lights, to pair: switch to on for the lights and then hold down the on button on the remote until the lights flash (should only take a couple of seconds) and you’re good to go!

Insufficient instructions to get to work.
Loved the idea. Want badly for this remote to work. Very insufficient instructions on connecting. Nothing in instruction on troubleshooting.
Talked to 2 different store personnel about this prior to purchase. No one in store had any experience with this item and could offer any feedback. Bought thinking I would do what it seemed to be saying. Did and remote did not work. Taking it back this weekend. Hoping there will be someone in store who can assist me in this one working or a different one.

How To Pair Guide
1) Make sure all batteries are correct.
2) With lights off, hold "Off" button on remote.
3) While still holding button, turn lights on and wait for them to turn off.
Hopefully this'll help. I had a hard time trying to figure it out.

Apparently not for all apothecary lights
The box says universal string light remote. i have apothecary battery operated string lights. this remote doesnt work with them. there is no light emitting from the remote either (and yes I looked through a camera for the infrared). I came here to see if others had the same complaint and sure enough a five star review says it only works with “remote ready” lights. well then why doesnt the box or instructions say that???? waste of money And time to return it

Great remote!
This remote DOES work well; you have to have the REMOTE READY lights. It is great and there are many features such as a timer and a dimmer. Just make sure you have the correct lights. Currently, they have a blue label. Great product.

I can't get the Remote to Work
I point the remote directly to the battery case of the lights to the on position marked clearly with Remote Ready. I then point the remote directly and nothing happens. When I follow the instructions to set the batter case to the on position, the lights come on. I then try to use the remote to turn the lights off. It just doesn't work.
To the people who says this is great and give it 5 starts, what are you doing to make this work? Please share.

Love this
I've bought two of these remotes and they work perfectly fine. Have to make sure the switch on the battery pack is on the right option or the remote won't work. I've noticed the lights won't turn on from the remote because the batteries in the battery pack need to be changed out. These lights seem to use up a lot of battery. I plan on buying more for the crafts I'm making as Christmas gifts.

Back up Remote - works only with Apothecary brand
I was hoping this was a remote that would work with any mini lights. Directions do not say it only works with Apothecary brand. I called the toll free number included in the directions and they said it only works with Apothecary brand mini lights that already came with a remote control - so if you lost or broke the one you had. Great idea to have a remote for mini lights and have found them but would be nice if there was a remote that worked across brands.

Had to kinda figure them out, but it wasn’t difficult. I’ve had them up for almost 4 months now and haven’t had any problems yet! I absolutely LOVE the timer feature!! I keep all the battery boxes on at all times, and the battery hasn’t run out yet because I only have the lights set on for 2 hours while I’m winding down for bed, then they shut off, then come back on the same time the next night! The “candle” option is a fun touch as well :)

Leaks battery acid
Don’t bother buying these lights! I haven’t even had them 3 months and the batteries are leaking acid. I bought 4 sets and had to throw them all out. Not worth your money!!

This works!
You need to buy the right string lights that has “Remote Ready” printed on it. I brought the other light that isn’t remote control compatible so it doesn’t work, changed it to the one that can be controlled by the remote control and it works.
