
layered clay feather earrings
Step 1 |
Slice a piece of black, Dive Grey and ivory clay from each block. |
Step 2 |
Knead and condition until mouldable. |
Step 3 |
Roll out each colour, smooth and as even as possible, to about 1/8" [0.3 cm] thick. |
Step 4 |
Use the clay cutters to cut two teardrop small ivory shapes, two medium Dove Grey shapes and two of the larger teardrop black shapes. |
Step 5 |
Use a roller, or clay machine, to flatten the shapes to look more like feathers. |
Step 6 |
Use a super slicer to cut out notches; then a piercing tool to add feather-like texture lines. |
Step 7 |
Use the piercing tool to create a hole in the centre towards the top of each feather shape. |
Step 8 |
Bake for 30 minutes at 230°F (110°C). Remove from the oven and set aside to cool. |
Step 9 |
Layer a Dove Grey feather shape on top of the larger black one and the white on top of the Dove Grey. |
Step 10 |
Open a jump ring and thread through the holes, then close. |
Step 11 |
Open a smaller jump ring and thread through the jump ring from Step 10, add a fishhook ear wire, then close the jump ring. |
Step 12 |
Repeat Steps 9-11 for a second earring. |
