Heishi beads make it easy to create bright and fun earrings. Have fun mixing the flat and metallic beads for these trendy DIYs!

Print Project

Step 1

First, make two bead dangles and set aside.
TIP: To do this, slide a bead onto a headpin. Bend the wire of the headpin in a 90° angle just above the bead. Grasp the wire, about 3/8"-½" [0.3 cm - 1.3 cm] from the bend, between the jaws of your round nose pliers. Rotate the pliers toward you, keeping a firm grip on the wire, until a small loop is formed. Trim excess wire.

Step 2

Now, take a pinch of each heishi spacer bead and add to a small dish. Stir the beads until you have a good mix.

Step 3

Slide the heishi beads randomly onto the ear wire. Move them over the bend and down the front side to sit on top of the loop. Fill the entire front side.

Step 4

Take your round nose pliers, bend the wire just above the beads back a little to help hold them in place.

Step 5

Repeat Steps 3-4 for a second earring.

Step 6

Carefully open the loop at the bottom of each ear wire, slide on the loop of a bead dangle and close the loop.
