halloween ghost seed bead earrings
Step 1 |
Thread your needle onto a 108" [274.3 cm] length of beading thread. |
Step 2 |
Add two beads to your thread. Slide them down to about 6" [15.24 cm] from the end. Run your needle and thread down through first bead in the opposite direction. Weave thread through both beads again for a tight hold. |
Step 3 |
Add another bead then run the needle through the previous bead in the opposite way it previously exited. The new bead will “snap” into place parallel to the first two. Run your needle and thread up through the new bead. Repeat until you have a total of sixteen beads. |
Step 4 |
Turn your work so the working thread is coming out of the top left bead. Pick up a bead with your needle, run it below the “bridge” of thread that straddle over the second and the third beads. Run thread back up through the second bead, down through the first bead and back up through the second. |
Step 5 |
Pick up a bead. Run your needle and thread through the next “bridge” of thread straddling the next set of beads and back up the same bead. Repeat across the top of the beads. |
Step 6 |
Repeat Steps 4-5 until you complete the row of two. |
Step 7 |
For the top row, add one bead and weave your thread back and forth through the beads from the previous row. |
Step 8 |
Now, slide your needle and thread down through the beads along the outside edge until your needle exits from the bottom of the outside most bead on the same side. |
Step 9 |
For the fringe, slide beads onto your needle and thread. Move up against the bead at the top of your thread. Skip the bead that is closest to your needle, then run your needle and thread up to the top fringe bead. Pull thread taut so your beads are all close together but not scrunched. |
Step 10 |
Run the needle and thread up the bead and down through the next bead. |
Step 11 |
Repeat Steps 9-10 across for each fringe strand below the bottom of the beads. |
Step 12 |
Add a jump ring and fishhook ear wire through the top bead (from Step 8) of the earring. |
Step 13 |
Repeat Steps 1-12 for a second earring. Share your project photos with #MakeItWithMichaels |
