geometric clay wall art
Step 1 |
Slice a piece of clay from each block. |
Step 2 |
Knead and condition until mouldable. |
Step 3 |
For the mosaic pieces, roll the desired clay into individual snake-like shapes, then use your straight blade slicer to cut small, uneven shape pieces. |
Step 4 |
Use an acrylic roller (or a clay machine) to roll Sahara clay into an even sheet. Push uneven clay pieces into the sheet; then roll the sheet until it is even and a little less than ¼" [0.6 cm] thick. |
Step 5 |
Roll out additional sheets of clay in each colour you’d like in your wall hanging. |
Step 6 |
Cut clay with different shapes and sizes of clay cutters and/or use your straight blade slicer to make rectangles. Also, use a flexible texture sheet to add a design to the Silver clay, then cut shapes. |
Step 7 |
Use the small stylus tool to create a hole in the top and bottom of the shapes. |
Step 8 |
Bake the shapes for 30 minutes at 265°F (130°C). Remove from oven and set aside to cool. |
Step 9 |
Add a 7mm jump ring to each hole you created in Step 7. |
Step 10 |
Lay out the shapes into three strands, with the middle strand a little longer than the two outer ones. Connect the 7mm jump rings at the top of each shape to each other with a 10mm jump ring, as shown. |
Step 11 |
At the top of the two outer strands, add a 10mm jump ring to the top of the 7mm (added in Step 10) and then another 7mm jump ring to the 10mm. |
Step 12 |
Twist three eye screws across the bottom of your stick, evenly spaced, and two across the top, also evenly spaced. |
Step 13 |
Hang your strands from the eye screws across the bottom with the 7mm jump rings attached at the top of each strand. |
Step 14 |
Attach 7mm and 10mm jump rings to each other to make a hanger, then attach each end to the screw eyes on the top of your stick. |
