galentine's day ombré tumbler
Step 1 |
First, clean your tumbler with rubbing alcohol to remove any fingerprints and/or oils. Remove the lid and set it aside, then insert the arm of your Spin It™ turning tool inside the tumbler. |
Step 2 |
Now, in a well-ventilated area, spray a basecoat of white paint all around the outside and bottom of your tumbler. Let dry. Repeat for a second coat, if needed. |
Step 3 |
Pounce an even, generous coat of Mod Podge® around the bottom third of your tumbler. |
Step 4 |
While the Mod Podge® is still wet, shake on a generous amount of Unicorn chunky glitter and then shake off excess. |
Step 5 |
Next, repeat Step 3 around the middle of your tumbler. While the Mod Podge® is still wet, hold your tumbler horizontally over your working surface and pour a generous amount of Bubblegum chunky glitter. While you shake off the excess glitter, allow some of the Bubblegum glitter to blend with the glitter around the top of the Unicorn section. |
Step 6 |
Again, repeat Step 3 around the last third section at the top of your tumbler. While the Mod Podge® is still wet, hold your tumbler horizontally over your working surface and pour a generous amount of purple chunky glitter. While you shake off the excess glitter, allow some of the purple glitter to blend with the glitter around the top of the Bubblegum section. |
Step 7 |
In a well-ventilated area, spray a generous amount of Mod Podge® sealer all around the outside and bottom of your tumbler. Set aside to dry. |
Step 8 |
Screw the arm of your Spin It™ tool, with your decorated tumbler attached, into place. |
Step 9 |
Put on a pair of the gloves included in the prep kit and read instructions included with resin thoroughly before you start to mix epoxy. Mix only what is needed for one layer at a time. |
Step 10 |
Turn on the tool to a medium-slow speed and pour a little of your epoxy mixture onto your tumbler. Spread it evenly around and on the bottom of your tumbler. Turn the speed up a little and run your glove-covered fingers over the cup in long even strokes to continue to spread the epoxy evenly. |
Step 11 |
Turn the tool to the highest speed and allow your tumbler to spin on the Spin It™ tool for four (to six) hours. |
Step 12 |
Click here for design in Cricut® Design Space™ and cut it out of holographic iron-on material. |
Step 13 |
Use scissors to cut around your design and save the rest of the paper for a future project. |
Step 14 |
Use your weeding tool to remove the excess material around and within your design. |
Step 15 |
Place your design, sticky-side down, where desired on your tumbler. Use your heat gun to apply heat to attach the design to your tumbler. |
Step 16 |
Repeat Step 9 to mix another batch of epoxy and then repeat Steps 10-11 for a second layer. |
Step 17 |
