foiled matboard earrings

Use matboard from cuttable surfaces to make beautiful earrings; then add foil details with a foil transfer kit by Cricut®!

Print Project

Step 1

First, click here for the design in Cricut® Design Space™.
TIP: If you want to make any changes to the design, click ‘Customize’ at the bottom of the screen and it will move the design into your canvas; then use the edit tools in the tool bar. Hide (or delete) any designs you do not want to and/or use the monogram design as a guide to create your own!

Step 2

Now, click ‘Make It’ in the upper right corner of your screen and ‘Continue’ in the lower right corner of the next screen.
TIP: If you want multiple cuts of your design, before you click ‘Continue’, change the quantity in the upper left corner of your screen.

Step 3

Place your matboard onto your cutting mat and use the included tape to attach foil over the area for the design.
TIP: See instructions included with the foil on how and additional tips for using this material.

Step 4

Select your material and load your mat into your Cricut® machine.
TIP: When your machine is done drawing with the foil it will partially unload your mat. Do not completely unload! It does this so you can remove the foil, then push the blinking arrow on your machine to cut.

Step 5

Unload and gently remove the material from the cutting mat. Remove any pieces left around or within the cutout and discard.

Step 6

Assemble your earrings with jump rings and fishhook ear wires.
TIP: To open and close a jump ring, simply grasp the jump ring on both sides with chain nose pliers and twist the ring open, from side-to-side. Never pull the jump ring which can cause distortion.
