floral textured clay bowl
Make a beautiful, patterned terra cotta clay dish with oven-baked terra cotta Sculpey® clay.
Step 1 |
Protect your work surface with a disposable cover, such as wax (or parchment) paper. |
Step 2 |
Preheat oven to 275°F [130°C]. |
Step 3 |
Start with clean hands, unwrap, and knead clay until soft and smooth, or using a clay roller. |
Step 4 |
Condition and roll approximately a 2½" [6.35 cm] ball of terra cotta clay. Flatten and run this through the pasta machine on the #1 setting. Fold in half to double the thickness. |
Step 5 |
Lay out your clay. Spray your patterned embossed roller with mold release as instructed on the packaging; then firmly roll it across all your clay. |
Step 6 |
Now, cut out a circle approximately 3½" [8.89 cm] to 4" [10.16 cm] in diameter where desired from your embossed clay. Smooth the edges. |
Step 7 |
Carefully pick-up your embossed clay circle and press it evenly into your glass bowl. Press it into the dish from the middle out so you eliminate any air bubbles. |
Step 8 |
Bake the dish (while still in the glass bowl) for 30 minutes per ¼" [0.6 cm] thickness according to package directions. Allow to cool completely. |
Step 9 |
Carefully remove the dish from the glass bowl. |
