FIMO® Soft Clay is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Contradictive Clay This clay would be really nice for sculpting, but for some odd reason, it seems the clay I get from here (in stores) is old/expired. The clay is not able to be worked with. Sometimes it seems that a few moments of sitting out causes the clay to lose its freshness. I could only see clay hardening when it’s air dry, but because this should be baked to get hard, it should stay soft until baking. Several colors that I’ve used are either hard right away or become hard. The white clay is the only color I’ve used that seems to stay soft majority of the time, as if it’s replaced with fresh clay when needed. But the other colors seem to be expired and still in stores. It hurts my fingers and takes me way too long to knead or mix the clay. And when I roll snakes or balls or flatten the clay, the clay is so hard that it has cracks in it and starts to crumble and has a weird texture. It’s eady to break clay before even baking it, and clay should be able to stretch for a while but when I stretch it to test how soft it is, it breaks fast. It’s annoying that when I add clay softener, the clay becomes too soft to handle. It begins to almost melt, like chocolate, and like, shed/transfer its color. Then it’s also to soft to hold shape. I use a tool to sculpt a detail, accidentally tap it, and that detail is ruined. The craziest part is that it’s soft and hard at the same time! How can they be both? The clay is too hard to smooth while being to soft to make detail. I’m not saying this to debunk Fimo or even Michaels, but to let them know that getting new clay might not be popular but it is important for customers. I’m upset because I can’t even use all of this clay that I spent money on. And the expiration dates are a bit hard to read. I just hope that this influences them to get fresh clay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is easy to work with Love this product it is soft enough to work with, and holds shape well. Baking time is reasonable and I have had no problems with air bubbles or cracks in the clay.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Overall the product is great- HOWEVER... Fimo clay is a great product, however, the items I purchased from Michael's were dry and crumbly, clearly old, and definitely not pliable and easily workable. Who knows how long they've been sitting on the shelf. I'm sorry, you can't sell old clay at the same price as new, fresh, easy to work clay. Projects sometimes won't work with dry, crumbly clay. Not very happy. You need a date stamp on the packages and should clearance them out at a certain point.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible! It was SO small and too hard to work with. It said on the package that it had to be baked to soften. I did so, and it did nothing. I ended up throwing it all away.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointed I bought two different colors of Fimo soft in two different sizes for a project and now have callouses and bruises on my hands from working with it. I’m not new to crafting, but haven’t used bake-able clay before. From reading the other reviews I’m thinking maybe the clay was old. It was hard and crumbly and took a lot of work to knead and mold. I’m going to try Sculpy next

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good product, but don't ever buy clay online! I ordered a large amount of this clay online about 6 months ago. It is definitely great clay, with good packages being very soft and easy to mold. It's great for beginners. However, I must complain that a few of my packages of clay that I received after ordering them online were rock solid and extremely hard to mold, which is a definite mark of expired clay. If you are planning to buy some of this wonderful clay buy it at the physical store so that you are able to feel it for yourself. It may be a little less convenient, but it's better to pick it out yourself rather than be frustrated with expired clay.
