I totally agree w the person below. In actuality fimo is one & in my case the best clay out there & following the process he mentioned is a perfect method for a perfect clay. You can also use or buy clay softeners which is mineral oil or veggie oil too.Baby oil also works.Even baby wipes.Wrap the clay & knead till soft.GOOD LUCK & HAPPY CRAFTING!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Follow these steps to soften hard fimo... Hello potential clay artists. Many people complain about Fimo clay being very hard and crumbly. This is not because clay is old; it is because Fimo is made out of oil. It leaches out and becomed too hard to work with hands. Fimo clay is not a beginners clay but it is the most durable for small thin details out there. It does not crumble after it is baked. I have worked with fimo for more than 25 years. Here is how I soften hard fimo. Step 1. Take fimo out of package and use a knife and cut fimo until it is in crumbled pieces. Step 2. Take a sandwich baggie and put crumble clay in to bag Step 3. Take about 1/8-1/4 teaspoon of vegetable oil pour it over clay in bag Step 4. Put bag into microwave oven Step 5. Turn on microwave for five to ten seconds at a time. This is the most important step you do not want your clay hot. It will be become burned and very hard. You want it just barely warm. Step 6. This step sounds and looks silly. Put baggie in ground and step on it with heel of your shoe until it is flat. Pick it up roll onto burrito with hand repeat. Do this several times until clay becomes pliable. Step 7. Gently use a paper towel to dry off excess oil. Step 8. Keep working it until clay is pliable. "Art is making the invisible,visible."-E.Bolsler Working with Fimo is hard work but it is worth it!
