fairycore butterfly fairy costume
Fairycore, the aesthetic that embraces nature, comes to life with this beautiful butterfly fairy costume. A simple t-shirt will get you started, then just add some butterflies, flowers and a pretty crystal headband!
| Step 1 |
Lay the t-shirt on your work surface. Cut off the sleeves, the collar and the hem of the shirt. Keep these pieces. |
| Step 2 |
Gather the t-shirt at the top-shoulder area on each sides and tie with a piece of the cut-off t-shirt. |
| Step 3 |
Cut slits up the t-shirt to create fringe. |
| Step 4 |
Lay the t-shirt flat, face up on your work surface. Now, lay the floral branch across the front of your t-shirt from the top-right shoulder down to the lower left. Once you have it in a position you like, hot glue the top of the branch well at the top-right shoulder area and at the bottom left. |
| Step 5 |
Glue a few butterflies onto the branch and on the t-shirt. |
| Step 6 |
To make the lavender tulle shawl, cut four lengths of tulle about 60" [152.4 cm] long. Gather them together and wrap around your shoulders. Secure the shawl in the front with a piece of cut-off t-shirt; then, glue some butterflies onto the shawl. |
| Step 7 |
To make a tulle skirt, cut a piece of tulle to wrap around your waist and add enough excess to tie a bow. Lay it out horizontally in front of you on your working surface. This is the belt of your skirt. |
| Step 8 |
Cut 4' [122 cm] lengths of tulle. |
| Step 9 |
Fold a strand of tulle in half. Place the fold, perpendicular, under the tulle belt piece on your working surface. Pull ends of tulle through the fold and over the tulle belt. Pull ends so the knot tightens against to the tulle belt. |
| Step 10 |
Repeat Step 9 until the tulle strands added along the tulle belt is as full as desired. |
| Step 11 |
Trim ends if, or as, desired. |
