cricut® infusible ink™ spooky trick or treat tote

Cricut® Infusible Ink™ is new technology that results in permanent and professional transfers. The easy to use material cuts beautifully with your Cricut® machine and use your Easy Press™ 2 to heat transfer! Make this Spooky Trick or Treat Tote for your little monster and see for yourself just how vibrant the colours are when transferred!
Step 1

First, click here to go directly to the design in Cricut® Design Space™.

Step 2

Change the name and size the design as you would like it to appear on your tote.

Step 3

Click ‘Make It’ in the upper right corner of your screen.

Step 4

In your preview screen, check ‘Mirror’ in the left panel for each mat, to reverse your image.

Step 5

Now, click ‘Continue’ in the bottom right corner of your screen and choose the correct material.
TIPS:
- Be sure to pay close attention to the mat in the left corner of your preview screen to know which layer is cutting so you know which colour/material to choose, especially when using multiple material types within a project.
- Change the material to copy paper to use the Infusible Ink™ markers.
- Change the material to Duck Tape® for the face of the pumpkin bucket within the design. Before unloading the Duck Tape®, press the cut button again (and maybe a third time after the second cut) as it may need to run again to fully cut through the material.

Step 6

Place the Infusible Ink™ material, ink-side up, onto your lightgrip cutting mat. Load the mat into your Cricut® machine, then press the blinking Cricut® icon to start cutting.

Step 7

Once your machine is done cutting each mat layer, use scissors to cut out each piece of your design from the transfer sheet(s).

Step 8

Next, remove all the excess material around and inside your design. You’ll be left with just the reversed design on the clear plastic carrier sheets, which are slightly sticky.
TIP: Weeding is very easy Infusible Ink™ material! You can bend the material and the pieces will lift. Weeding can pretty much be done with your hands.

Step 9

Preheat your EasyPress™ to the appropriate temperature for your material and, if needed, adjust the timer.
TIP: See the Quick Reference Guide, included with your EasyPress™, for temperature and times or click here for an interactive guide.

Step 10

Lay your tote on top of your EasyPress™ mat and smooth it out with your hands. Now, insert a piece of cardstock inside your tote to prevent bleeding to the back as well as protect your mat from any excess ink.
TIP: Use a lint roller over the area where you want your design to remove any dust.

Step 11

Place a sheet of butcher paper (included with your transfer sheets) on top of your tote and preheat the fabric for 15 seconds to remove any moisture.

Step 12

Remove the butcher paper from the top of your tote, place your transfer ink design on your tote (ink-side down) and replace the butcher paper over your design.
TIP: When working with more than one layer, you will want to heat one layer at a time. Be sure to cover the already heated part of your design with butcher paper to prevent re-activation of the ink.

Step 13

Carefully place your EasyPress™ over your design. Hold in place with gentle pressure.
TIP: Be careful to keep the EasyPress™ very still on top of your design. Shifting the design in anyway can cause unfavourable results, such as “shadowing”.

Step 14

After 40 seconds of heat, carefully remove your EasyPress™. Again, try not to move your design. Let it cool for about a minute or so and then remove the backing from your tote.
TIP: You want to remove the backing from your transfer sheet in one smooth action rather than slowly removing as you would iron-on material.

Step 15

Colour in the outlined pumpkin bucket drawn on the copy paper with an Infusible Ink™ marker. Repeat for any letters you had the drawn on the copy paper.

Step 16

Cut around the designs and place them, ink-side down, within the design, cover with butcher paper and heat.
TIP: You may use some heat resistant tape, if needed, to hold in place when pressing.

Step 17

Stick the glow-in-the-dark Duck Tape® Jack O’Lantern’s face in place on the pumpkin bucket.
