cricut® giant rose paper flowers

Create a handmade paper flower to make a statement! Whether using for a celebration or décor it will be personalized piece made by you and it's even easier to make using a Cricut® machine.
Step 1

Search the image gallery for a flower petal shape in Cricut® Design Space™.

Step 2

For Layer 1, size your petal to fit 8½"x11" cardstock, then cut eight petals.
TIP: Will need a total of 18 sheets of cardstock to create all petals for the flower in Step 2 and Step 3.

Step 3

For the next layers:

  • Layer 2: Cut eight of the same petal shape but scale it to fit two petals on 8½"x11" cardstock.
  • Layer 3: Cut eight of the same petal shape but scale to fit four petals on 8½"x11" cardstock.
  • Layer 4: Cut eight of the same petal shape but scale to fit six petals on 8½"x11" cardstock.
  • Layer 5: Cut the center of the rose with the same petal to create a clover shape to measure 5¼", cut one total
  • Base Layer: Cut one 4" round circle.
TIP: To make larger or smaller sizes of petals, click 'Duplicate' in Cricut® Design Space™ and size as needed to fit 8½"x11" cardstock.
Step 4

Now, take the petals created for Layers 1-3 and make a ½" vertical cut in the bottom center of each petal. For each petal, add a dab of glue on the right side of the vertical cut and layer over left side on top of glue. This will give each petal shape and allow for a fuller flower when assembling each layer.

Step 5

To assemble, take four -Layer 1 petals from Step 4 and glue down to the 4"  base round circle, take the other four - Layer 1 petals and layer on top of first layer. Make sure to not overlap but fill in gaps.

Step 6

Repeat Step 5 for Layer 2 petals and Layer 3 petals.

Step 7

Make the center of rose clover shape and glue opposites together on sides to cup each other; then repeat again for opposites and glue to already cupped shape to finish petal center.

Step 8

Take the rose center and glue to center of assembled petals, fill in with Layer 4 petals using up to eight petals.
TIP: You may only need six of these petals but having the extra can hep to fill in any gaps.

Step 9

Take a wooden dowel rod and curl all petals outward at the edges.
TIP: Petals from Layer 4 can be curled inward at one edge and outward on the other edge for more realistic floral look.

Step 10

For the painted look, take a medium size foam brush and dry brush each petal. Blend as you apply paint. Use up to three different tones based on cardstock colors.

Step 11
Also cut 2 layers of 4” round circles to use second layer to add in wire or strand of ribbon to hang finished flowers.
