cosy winter mini hat
Step 1 |
First, cut ring from your paper roll that is about 1" [2.5 cm] tall. |
Step 2 |
Next, cut about 40 12" [30.5 cm] strands of yarn. |
Step 3 |
Fold one of the strands in half. Thread the fold of the yarn through the inside of the 1" [2.5 cm] paper roll ring so the fold peeks over the top. Grab the ends of the cord, bring them up and over the top of the ring, then through the fold of the yarn. Pull and tighten the knot so it sits at the top of your ring to create your first lark’s head knot. |
Step 4 |
Repeat Step 3 until the ring is covered. |
Step 5 |
Cut another piece of yarn that is about 10"-12" [25.4 cm-30.5 cm] in length. |
Step 6 |
Hold the ring upside-down, so all the strands are hanging down. Gather all of the strands together so they are about 1½" [3.8 cm] above the middle of the ring. |
Step 7 |
Tie the yarn piece, cut in Step 5, around the strands. |
Step 8 |
Crumple a paper towel into a small ball and stuff inside the hat. Pull the strands on top, if needed, to smooth and shape the yarn around the stuffed paper towel. |
Step 9 |
Trim ends around the strands to make a shaggy pom-pom on top. |
