chevron seed bead earring
Step 1 |
Cut 72" [182.9 cm] of nylon thread, run it through the thread conditioner a few times, then thread needle onto your thread. |
Step 2 |
Add six beads to your thread. Slide them down to about 6" [15.24 cm] from the end. Run your needle and thread down through first three beads, in the opposite direction. |
Step 3 |
Weave thread through both columns for a tight hold. |
Step 4 |
Add three beads then run the needle through the previous column in the opposite side it previously exited. The three new beads will fall into place for the third column. Run the needle and thread up through the three new beads. Repeat until you have a total of nine columns. |
Step 5 |
Turn your work so the working thread is coming out of the top left column. Add to beads. Run your needle and thread below the “bridge” of thread that straddle over the second and the third columns. Run thread back up through the second bead, down through the first bead and back up through the second. |
Step 6 |
Add a bead. Run your needle and thread through the next “bridge” of thread straddling the next set of columns and back up the same bead. Repeat across the top of the columns. |
Step 7 |
Repeat Steps 6-7 until you get to the last row of one. |
Step 8 |
For the top row, add one bead and weave your thread back and forth through the beads from the previous row. |
Step 9 |
Now, slide your needle and thread down the outside beads to shift them to exit the bottom bead of the outside most column on the same side to start the beaded fringe. |
Step 10 |
For the fringe, slide beads onto your needle and thread. Move up against the column at the top of you thread. Skip the bead that is closest to your needle, then run your needle and thread up to the top fringe bead. Pull thread taut so your beads are all close together but not scrunched. |
Step 11 |
Run the needle and thread up the column and down through the next column. |
Step 12 |
Repeat Steps 10-11 across for each fringe strand below the bottom of the columns. |
Step 13 |
Add a jump ring and fishhook ear wire through the top bead (from Step 8) of the earring. |
Step 14 |
Repeat for a second earring. Share your project photos with #MakeItWithMichaels |
