MEASUREMENTS: One size fits all

GAUGE:  9 sc and 11 rows = 4” [10 cm] with larger hook; Take time to check your gauge

SPECIAL STITCH(ES) EXPLANATIONS:

• Popcorn: Work 3 dc in next stitch. Drop loop from hook. Insert hook from front to back in first dc. Pull loop through. Ch 1 to secure popcorn.
• Scbl (Single Crochet Back Loop In Back Loop): Single crochet in back loop only of next stitch.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Ribbing: With smaller hook, ch 9.

Row 1: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 8 sc.

Row 2: Ch 1. 1 scbl in each st to end of row. Turn.

Rep last row until piece, when slightly stretched, measures 22” [56 cm]. Do not fasten off.

Ch 1. Join last row and 1st row tog, working 1 row of sc through both thicknesses.

Do not fasten off.

Change to larger hook and proceed as follows:

Rnd 1: Ch 2. Work 55 hdc evenly along side edge of ribbing. Join with sl st to first hdc.

Rnd 2: Ch 2. 1 hdchl in each hdc around. Join with sl st to first hdc.

Rnd 3: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each of next 2 sts. Popcorn in next st. 1 hdc in each of next 2 sts. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first hdc.

Rnd 4: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each st around. Join with sl st to first hdc.

Rnd 5: As Rnd 2.

Rnd 6: Ch 2. *Popcorn. 1 hdc in each of next 4 sts. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first hdc.

Rnd 7: As Rnd 4.

Rep Rnds 2 to 7 for pat until work measures approx 8” [20.5 cm], ending on a Rnd 3 or 6.

Beg Crown Decs: Rnd 1: Ch 2. *Hdc2tog over next 2 sts. 1 hdc in each of next 3 sts. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first st. 44 sts.

Rnd 2: Ch 2. 1 hdchl in each hdc around. Join with sl st to first hdc.

Rnd 3: Ch 2. *1 hdc in first st. Popcorn in next st. 1 hdc in each of next 2 sts. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first hdc.

Rnd 4: Ch 2. *Hdc2tog over next 2 sts. 1 hdc in each of next 2 sts. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first st. 33 sts.

Rnd 5: As Rnd 2.

Rnd 6: Ch 2. hdc in first st. *1 hdc in each of next 3 sts. Popcorn in next st. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first hdc.

Rnd 7: Ch 2. *Hdc2tog over next 2 sts. 1 hdc in next st. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first hdc. 22 sts.

Rnd 8: As Rnd 2.

Rnd 9: Ch 2. *Hdc2tog. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first hdc.

Fasten off, leaving a long end. Thread end through rem sts. and draw up tightly, Fasten securely.
