
3d haunted house scene shadow box
Make this spooky, 3D lighted shadow box to use for Halloween décor!
Step 1 |
First, click here for the design in Cricut® Design Space™. |
Step 2 |
Click ‘Customise’ at the bottom of the screen and it will move the design into your canvas. Use the edit tools in the tool bar and then click ‘Make It’ in the upper right corner of your screen. |
Step 3 |
Click ‘Continue’ in the lower right corner of your screen. |
Step 4 |
Place a piece of cardstock onto your cutting mat, select your material and load your mat into your Cricut® machine. |
Step 5 |
When your machine is done cutting from your cardstock, unload your mat and gently remove the cardstock. Remove any pieces left around or within the cutout and discard. Add your next mat layer, as indicated in the review panel on the left of your screen, re-load the mat and click the blinking icon. Repeat for each layer. |
Step 6 |
Lightly paint the peaks of all the black hills with grey paint. Set aside to dry. |
Step 7 |
Remove the back of your shadow box. |
Step 8 |
Cut an 11" x 14" [27.9 cm x 35.6 cm] from the grey cardstock and adhere to the back of the shadow box for your background. |
Step 9 |
Adhere the yellow moon to the background. |
Step 10 |
Turn the black tree with hills cut-out over and add foam squares. Cut the squares to fit the some of the tree branches so they cannot be seen from the front. Remove the paper back on the foam squares, turn the piece over and attach to your background so it is about ¼" [0.6 cm] from the bottom of the background. |
Step 11 |
Adhere the yellow house cut-out to the back of the brown haunted house. |
Step 12 |
Use foam squares to attach the haunted house to the middle, right of your scene. |
Step 13 |
Lay out the LED strung lights across your background and allow the battery pack to hang off the side of the backing. |
Step 14 |
Use hot glue to adhere a section of lights to the black tree about halfway down the cut-out, horizontally. |
Step 15 |
Use foam squares to attach the next layer of black hills about ¼" [0.6 cm] from the bottom of your background. |
Step 16 |
Repeat Step 14-15 for the remaining layers: black hill cut-out, strung lights, grey fence, remaining strung lights, black hill cut-out and finally the tombstones. |
Step 17 |
Carefully place the back with attached haunted scene to the frame of your shadow box. Remember the battery pack should be hanging outside the shadow box. |
Step 18 |
Add batteries to the battery pack. |
