Measurements: Approx. 17" [43 cm] wide x 14½" [37 cm] high, excluding handles.

Gauge: 15 hdc and 12 rnds = 4" [10cm]

  • When joining colours, work to last 2 loops on hook of first colour. Draw new colour through last 2 loops and proceed.
  • Ch 2 at beg of rnd does not count as st.
  • Join with sl st to first st at end of each rnd.

1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join.

2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc around. Join. 12 sc.

3rd rnd: Ch 1. (2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next sc) 6 times. Join. 18 sc.

4th rnd: Ch 1. (2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 2 sc) 6 times. Join. 24 sc.

5th rnd: Ch 1. (2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 3 sc) 6 times. Join. 30 sc.

6th rnd: Ch 1. (2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 4 sc) 6 times. Join. 36 sc.

Cont as established, inc 6 sc each rnd until there are 126 sc. Join B at end of last rnd.

Proceed as follows:

1st rnd: With B, ch 2. Working into back loop only, 1 hdc in each sc around, inc 4 sts evenly around. Join. 130 hdc.

2nd to 9th rnds: Ch 2. 1 hdc in sp between each hdc around. Join A at end of 9th rnd.

10th rnd: With A, ch 2. 1 hdc in sp between each hdc around. Join C.

11th to 19th rnds: With C, ch 2. 1 hdc in sp between each hdc around. Join A at end of 19th rnd.

20th rnd: With A, ch 2. 1 hdc in sp between each hdc around. Join D.

21st to 29th rnds: With D, ch 2. 1 hdc in sp between each hdc around. Join A at end of 29th rnd.

30th rnd: With A, ch 2. 1 hdc in sp between each hdc around. Join E.

31st to 39th rnds: With E, ch 2. 1 hdc in sp between each hdc around. Join A at end of 39th rnd.

40th rnd: With A, ch 2. 1 hdc in sp between each hdc around. Join.

41st rnd: Ch 1. Working from left to right, instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 reverse sc in each hdc around. Join. Fasten off.

Straps (make 2)

With A, ch 111.

1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn.

2nd to 5th rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.

Fold Handle in half lengthwise and working through both thicknesses to join 5th row to foundation row, work 1 sc in each st to end of row. Fasten off.
