Row 1 (WS): * P1, sl 1 wyif; rep from * to last st, end p1.
Row 2 (RS): * K1, sl 1 wyif; rep from * to last st, end k1.
Rep Rows 1 – 2 for patt.
Scarf is knitted lengthwise, alternating between 2 colours.
(Note: First and last sts on each row will be worked in Garter stitch)
With A, cast on 132 sts.
Row 1: (WS): K1, work row 1 of Linen stitch patt to last st, end k1.
Row 2: K1, work row 2 of Linen stitch patt t to last st, k1.
Row 3: Rep Row 1.
Rows 4 – 7: Change to B, work Linen st patt beg on Row 2.
Rows 8 – 11: Change to A, work Linen st patt beg on Row 2.
Rows 12 - 14: Change to B, work Linen st patt beg on Row 2.
Bind off all sts loosely.
Make fringe: Cut fourteen 50.8cm (20") lengths of yarn in each colour. Thread lengths of yarn through the edge sts on each end of scarf, using crochet hook to help guide yarn. * Beg at right edge, gather 3-5 lengths of cut yarn together and tie into a knot along the bottom edge of scarf. Rep from * across row, until you have 5 or 6 knots. Cut ends of yarn at an angle to same length.
While working Linen Stitch, if your knitting feels too tight, don’t hesitate to go up a few needle sizes.
